From a basic post replacement after the trash truck clipped it to a full decorative mailbox column for an HOA neighborhood — here are the three jobs we do most often.
The classic curbside install: new mailbox, new 4x4 post (cedar, pressure-treated, or vinyl-wrapped), set in concrete to USPS height and setback. Vinyl numbers applied straight. Old mailbox and rotted post hauled away. Most installs done in 2–3 hours.
Lots of Venice and Sarasota neighborhoods (Pelican Pointe, Venetia, Palmer Ranch, Lakewood Ranch) require a specific decorative mailbox style. We repair cracked stucco columns, repaint to match, swap the cast aluminum or steel mailbox, and replace the scroll bracket — all to the HOA's approved spec.
If your mailbox itself is fine but the post snapped, leaned, or rotted at the base, we just swap the post. We dig out the old footing, set a new pressure-treated 4x4 in fresh concrete, and remount your existing box. Clean fix, same-day in most cases.

Sarasota County's sandy soil holds posts a lot worse than the clay you'd find up north. A 4x4 just hammered in with no footing will lean inside of two years. We always pour concrete — 50 lbs minimum, packed tight around the base, 24+ inches deep.
And let's be honest: trash trucks, lawn services, and tourists driving rentals clip a lot of mailboxes every year. If yours is on the corner or on a tight curb cut, we'll talk through breakaway options or a setback adjustment so the next clip is less likely to take the post with it.
